If you are scarred for life by the Severed Mouth Woman video from the previous post, then it has served it’s purpose. NAH, not really, I want it to serve as an reminder to this blog, actually I just came up with that. Okay, so the previous post was about INTP, now more about it. I found search engine traffic with the term INTP coming into this blog, hence I went to reverse search which lead me to wikipedia. Here goes with copy and paste while bold-ing what I find interesting.

From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/INTP

INTP types are quiet, thoughtful, analytical individuals who don’t mind spending long periods of time on their own, working through problems and forming solutions. They are very curious about systems and how things work, and are frequently found in careers such as science, architecture and law. INTPs tend to be less at ease in social situations and the ‘caring professions’, although they enjoy the company of those who share their interests. They also tend to be impatient with the bureaucracy, rigid hierarchies, and politics prevalent in many professions, preferring to work informally with others as equals.

INTPs organize their understanding of any topic by articulating principles, and they are especially drawn to theoretical constructs. Having articulated these principles for themselves, they can demonstrate remarkable skill in explaining complex ideas to others in simple terms, especially in writing. On the other hand, their ability to grasp complexity may also lead them to provide overly detailed explanations of “simple” ideas, and listeners may judge that the INTP makes things more difficult than they are. This to the INTP, however, is incomprehensible: they are merely presenting all of the information.

INTPs’ extroverted intuition gives them a quick wit, especially with language, and they can defuse the tension in gatherings by comical observations and references. They can be charming, even in their quiet reserve, and are often astounded by the high esteem in which their friends and colleagues hold them.

An insulted INTP, however, has a tendency to unveil their full mastery of logical intuition. Many previously secure, confident people have been left crushed by an INTP’s sudden and piercingly accurate criticism. After such an incident, the INTP is as likely to be as devastated as the recipient; they have broken the rules of debate and exposed their irrational emotions. This to an INTP is the crux of the problem: emotions are to be dealt with in a logical manner, as improperly handled they can only harm.

…….[skipped a mass of text here]

An INTP is not shy about using a tool for something other than its original purpose, or creating a new tool to serve a desired purpose. INTPs cause no end of frustration to ISTPs, ESTPs, ESTJs and ISTJs with this improvisation, as despite their best effort they cannot make the same intuitive leaps which come naturally to the INTP. On the other hand, they are quick to smugly point out when the INTP must stop in the middle of a project to puzzle over the previously discarded instructions, which the -ST- read at the start.

The INTP, however, adapts well to the rules-oriented world of introverted Sensing, preferring to experience the world through a cautious and reserved manner, while the ISTP is quite extroverted in their experiences in the world. Nor does either type have patience with the introverted iNtuitive world of inner vision. They prefer to stick to the straightforward articulation of their principles.

From Master, thats me, for some reason:

Woohoo! Some of it might sound familiar to some of you. I am a tool creator, tool creatorz and I have many tools and you are one of them! Sorry to the ISTPs, ESTPs, ESTJs and ISTJs that I might meet in the future. No, actually I am not sorry. I am too dangerous, like I pasted previously, being an Assassin is a favored career to the INTP. I am so gonna go around assassinating people. Oh? That is not how the assassin works? Gah, didn’t you read that I am not shy about using a tool for something than its original purpose? Hey, don’t go around double guessing my logic you none-INTP. I am the logical one here. No, you are not funny.

“INTP types are quiet, thoughtful” - Yea, most of the time too thoughtful, except just now.

From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Architect_%28Role_Variant%29

Architects are introspective, pragmatic, informative, and attentive. The scientific systemization of all knowledge, or Architectonics, is highly developed in Architects, who are intensely curious and see the world as something to be understood. Their primary interest is to determine how things are structured, built, or configured. Architects are designers of theoretical systems and new technologies. Rearranging the environment to fit their design is a distant goal of Architects.

Of all the role variants, Architects are the most logically and verbally precise. In casual conversations, they may be tempted to point out errors the other speaker makes, with the simple goal of maintaining clarity within the exchange. In serious discussions, Architects’ abilities to detect distinctions, inconsistencies, contradictions, and frame arguments gives them an enormous advantage. In debates, Architects can sometimes be devastating, or alienate themselves from the group with overly logical arguments.

Of all the role variants, Architects have the greatest ability to analyze the world in depth. They prefer to quietly work alone and they may shut other people out if they are focused on analysis. This, coupled with the fact that Architects are usually shy, makes it difficult for other individuals to get to know them. In social exchanges, Architects are more interested in informing others about what they have learned than they are interested in directing the actions of others.

Credentials or other forms of traditional authority do not impress Architects. Instead, logically coherent statements are the only things that seem to persuade them. Architects highly value intelligence, and can be impatient with people with less ability than they have. Architects often perceive themselves as being one of the few individuals capable of defining the ends a society must achieve and will often strive to find the most efficient means to accomplish their ends. This perspective can make Architects seem arrogant to others.

From me:

Truth! Persuade me with something logical. Everyone else can get certificates, but little can make out that one plus one equal two or say something logical. Gibberish stuff. Sometimes it makes me want to destroy the academic system.

Traditions no more

Another thing, traditions. I see them being imposed on people. Why the need to preserve a tradition? If there is no more interest in people to continue chopping wood with stone axes or singing songs for the spirits then it is time to move on. The Chinese believe that Chinese must follow Chinese traditions is total bullshit to me.

An individual should be free to do and be what he chooses. Tradition only serve to drag the individual down when it serves no purpose to him other than being a rule follower in the mind of other rule followers. If you do not follow the rule of forcing other people to follow the rules then you are not a rule follower then you shall be outcast. Hmm… sounds familiar in some cultures. INFIDEL! Although it might have got to do with evolutionary psychology/sociology, some “Chinese must be Chinese” rule or some crazy cross border nationalism caused by powerful Chinese propaganda to the Chinese people, to me as an logical individual, this is all worthless if it only serves to make some people “happy”.

My self identity is not of being a Chinese because I am born one, it is of being a intelligent species that is greater than the other animate objects, so patriotism and nationalism can be reserved for popcorn sessions, and when there is alien contact, we learn from them. Throw away all the old ways when there are new and better ways. Dump the stone axes when we have bronze. That is logical. Being stuck in an age before threatens your competence, it has caused the downfall of many if you remember. Go global or perish when the world comes at you.

It is after all what I want to be, not what or who I should be. Freedom rules.

Master of the world. Master the world. Here we go!

P.S. I like watching the history channel. Hope to see you on there soon, if you know what I mean.

So I took the test and I was profiled as an INTP - Introverted iNtuitive Thinking Perceiving. The description of the INTP so amazingly accurately depicts my way of thought. Measly Earthlings, it is time for copy-and-pasting.

INTPs are pensive, analytical folks. They may venture so deeply into thought as to seem detached, and often actually are oblivious to the world around them.

Precise about their descriptions, INTPs will often correct others (or be sorely tempted to) if the shade of meaning is a bit off. While annoying to the less concise, this fine discrimination ability gives INTPs so inclined a natural advantage as, for example, grammarians and linguists.

Mathematics is a system where many INTPs love to play, similarly languages, computer systems–potentially any complex system. INTPs thrive on systems. Understanding, exploring, mastering, and manipulating systems can overtake the INTP’s conscious thought. This fascination for logical wholes and their inner workings is often expressed in a detachment from the environment, a concentration where time is forgotten and extraneous stimuli are held at bay. Accomplishing a task or goal with this knowledge is secondary.

Many regard this attitude as arrogant, and Architects are likely, especially in their later years, after finding out that most others are faking an understanding of the laws of nature, to think of themselves as the prime movers who must pit themselves against nature and society in an endless struggle to define ends clearly and adopt whatever means that promise success. If this is arrogance, then at least it is not vanity, and without question it has driven the design engineers to take the lead in molding the structure of civilization.

They are content to sit back and think about what might work, given their view of the situation. INTPs may ignore standard operating procedures. The hours that they spend are not what is important to them, but rather the completion of their thought process

Yes, I am very fascinated with systems. I just spent 2 days programming a statistic program although there is Google Analytics. I want to manipulate data and GA doesn’t let me. All it provides is a email report system, pfft…. I want XML!

Oh yea some of the favored careers: philosopher, game designer, scientist, software engineer - yea all the things you expect, but this: assassin. OH it all makes sense now. Still, I do not favor a career where I have to trade time for money, after all this whole career thing is a system itself. Neither do I want to be a DBA because I am not at all fascinated with uncreative administration, I want to design. To be able to architect a system to generate exponential wealth seems much favorable. I have a system in mind but it is quite difficult to implement. It will exploit existing systems, not in a bad way, to generate automatic wealth. Then there is business, which is also a system.

Yea, as those who have played TTD with me knows, I am more interested in perfecting my complex railway system than actually winning/generating virtual money. After I have got it all figured out, I got bored of it.

What have I learned? I learned that there are others who would rather not deal with the complexity. In other words, there are people who are different in this sense. Sorry, but all of you are mere mortals in this system and I am the architect.

It says I am a rule breaker and may ignore standard operating procedures. Exactly! Who wants to follow the lab notes or the text-book? I rather figure it out by myself. Damn institutions. The schools do not reward those who figure out by themselves, rather, they merit those who follow instructions. By giving out step by step procedures to guide them along. Why are they in an programming course in the first place?

If you do not know by now, “the default path” as I would like the call it is the “standard life procedure” of study hard, work even harder, becoming zombies, complain, retire and die. It is absolutely abhorring that people are trying to enforce such values onto me although they might mean good, then again, people always enforce their values on others. I am already planning to break many of these rules including death. Yeap, I have joined the Immortality Institute for awhile now. No one but me questions the validity of the existing rules and paths. It is unfortunately too stupid for me. By me, I meant all who are like me. Hello clones.

In other news..

I HATE YOU. Nah, I hate everyone else as well. Actually, I just didn’t want to hurt your feelings. I have ventured into the unknown mehahahaha.

I have 2 videos for you.

Master

PS. I was lying, love everyone.

These autistic traits may be beneficial for some disciplines like science, mathematics, engineering and computer programming. Some autistic individuals might show a marked proficiency in rote memorization which may help learn the foundation of these subjects; however, the exceptionally good aptitude (in these subjects) of high functioning autistic spectrum persons may be due to their ability to readily identify patterns and apply them consistently to new situations outside of established knowledge or teaching. These savant skills, although popularly considered to be a major part of autistic disorders, are evident only in a small fraction of autistic individuals, with estimates of the fraction ranging from 0.5 to 10%.

Autistic people are prone to commit social faux pas because of an inability to predict others’ reactions. They may also neglect social niceties like knocking or returning a greeting. Similarly, they may be overly trusting or paranoid of strangers. It may be best summed up as an inability to understand/perceive the intent or emotional wants and needs of others around them

Up the bridge
You have to walk up the stairs first. Hard things first.

Down the tunnel
You walk down first. Hard things later.

Which would you rather take to cross a road?
This relates to my previous post.
Why don’t we give up going home while we can give up on other things?
Maybe it is the time cost and mental energy consumption.

Going home is so object oriented ( not in the programming sense )
You cannot “survive, being stuck in between.
While working on self solo projects are so “optional”.

One thing I cannot stand is brain dead grunt work.
It is a torture to get through database administration.
My brain cannot stop.
Imagine the unexciting task of moving data around.
Solving database problems? Backing up databases?
What the X!? Standard Routines Maximus.

I would enjoy designing systems, than working in one.
I love systems. I love perfection.
I love to create perfect, eternal systems.
Eternal: Built to last forever without need for human intervention.
Systems are so beautiful.
Oh, who else would appreciate?
You? Oh, come on.
It is like art. Self-gratification.
The end.
Fin.
.

Best Regards

For my dear mortals,

Quoting from wikipedia:

Procrastination.

The psychological causes of procrastination vary greatly, but generally surround issues of anxiety, low sense of self-worth, and a self-defeating mentality.
Perfectionism.

Traditionally, procrastination has been associated with perfectionism, a tendency to negatively evaluate outcomes and one’s own performance, intense fear and avoidance of evaluation of one’s abilities by others, heightened social self-consciousness and anxiety, recurrent low mood, and workaholism.

Me:

I think, it is affecting me. I need a external factor to push me to complete a project. - Yes, I do complete projects, but mostly not for myself, but for others. It is evident. I have built up 3 unpublished post here, because they are imperfect, and maybe because I care about what other people think. I want things to be perfect before made public. Good policy or bad policy?

Maybe it is a fear of the unknown, the fear of failure. I know so much more than most people, and it is this that diverts me away from the job path that most take. I know with this knowledge, if I put it into good use, I can help so many people.

Wiki: Student syndrome

Student syndrome refers to the phenomenon that many students will begin to fully apply themselves to a task only just before a deadline.

Me:

Wow, thats what I was doing. I do projects on last days and complete them. Haha I only downloaded and installed a IDE after 12 AM and completed the project within 7 hours of non stop work, then handed it in at 10 AM, and I believe I did better than most of the people. For 5 minutes, I forced myself to feel a sense of achievement as I felt I deserved it, then it wore off. Like I said, if it is work for other people, I would complete it.

I have lots of ideas, and I work on them, but many times I just leave it there after doing it halfway and move on to other ideas. I would have probably made some good money off some of these if I went on to launch them. Creativity is distracting me. Somehow, I think, I can use this personality/characteristic in a positive way - I do not know how, yet.

I remember, for a period of time, I had a lot of motivation. I am going on the sin curve thing again.

Possible Solutions

Exile to reduce distractions and get people to work with - People that can take ideas and work on them(and finish). Too bad, I cannot trust people to handle so much. Like I cannot trust most of the web designers to design for me.

Though.. I have once outsourced to designers and programmers. When a design is submitted to me, I still had to edit it to get it up to my standard. Then, I hand it over to the programmer to continue the work. I could do both myself and that would have increased my profits, but it would have been mostly brain dead grunt work. I did the selling too, which was great. This.. is quite good, could have been better, if I didn’t need to edit the design and just do the selling and management.

I have all the marketing tactics, strategies and business stuff. Hmm..I could be a good CEO, just need to outsource. Maybe a good consultant too. After all, it is while doing the labour(design/writing/programming -you know facing the technical problems that you had to solve in order to move on), where I usually stop, and start to get disinterested. One more thing I need - a larger capital.

Thoughts

This post is sort of educational and hopefully interesting - for those interested in these fields - Psychology, business and marketing. I know I am. There are posts picking up search engine traffic, but there is no feedback. So…?

There is a pressing need to stop doing unproductive things. 24 hours a day, much of it wasted. Think - 24 HOURS, the amount of things that can be generated. BRAINSTORM, RESEARCH, PLAN, OUTSOURCE, OUTSOURCE, OUTSOURCE!

To the people who can decipher this: I will return when the problems are solved. Oh, there are many. Love to riddle.

A person’s values sculpts the relationship he forms. It sets the limits to the amount of trust they have in people and ideas. As I was writing about Open to Experience a few posts back. There are certainly people, who would choose security over uncertainty. They are the conventional species. They will only do what is tried and tested and never be the one who tread new grounds.

Some are afraid to lose. Some cannot sacrifice. Some will only do things for you when they can get something out of it.

“Only fools will rush into where angels fear to tread.” I certainly don’t rush in, I think first, but I am probably the few who would enter first. I am an explorer. I seek to understand, and that is very important. That intellectual curiosity, that drive to question and philosophize. I don’t fear to admit, I take pride in this.

I think that is what lead me to this. A theory, you can call it. People’s perception can be scaled on many dimensions. That is what separates the sheeple from the enlightened. If your thinking is one dimension higher than a another, you can understand why the lower thinks the way he do. Each time you move up a level, it lets you see people in a whole new dimension. Sometimes there are no clear distinction when you have reached a high level of understanding. By this, I mean you can understand the way of thought of people who can also understand your way of thought.

Moving up the scale peels away the hatred. Lesser and lesser in things you take offense in things that mortals would. This is because you understand exactly why people get offended and why they get into conflicts. The ease and multitude of things people take offense in just seems ridiculous in a sense, but you know that it is because they don’t seek to understand.

We can get into debate. We can disagree with each other in points. Some draw guns over it; We sip wine pitting wits.

To us, there is nothing more appalling than the anti-intellectuals. Those blind minions of hate!

To be continued… Don’t hate me just yet.

Have you ever faced a situation where you are told to finish your food even if you are full?

What? Think about the starving people in Africa? Think about the money you are wasting not stuffing that oh so nourishing pile of vomit inducing substance into your mouth?

These pseudo justifications have always irked me.

What are the objectives of eating?

I don’t know about you, but for me it is usually primarily to satisfy my hunger and secondarily to enjoy. Hunger is usually a cue of an empty stomach ready to take in food, but some people have very big stomaches, bigger than the amount of space needed to store the nourishment that they need, but thats not the problem today.

Since if I was to spend some money on a snack for the above two objectives, at any point in time where the snack can no longer achieve these 2 objectives, I would not and should not continue consuming the snack. At this point of time you should only have two rational options to not waste the food: save the food for later or give the food to someone else. The “mistake” is already made when you bought it. Learn from it. Next time, remind yourself not to over purchase and never ever waste your money on beef ice cream again.

Not that I have no empathy, but thinking of starving people does not justify me suffering. Even if I force more things down my throat, the starving people will still starve. It’s not like my stomach is some portal to Africa.

Oh, don’t even think of making the money come out of the other side like you are some food to cash converting machine.

Another reason from sciencedaily:

“Furthermore, we have found that the heavier a person is — French or American — the more they rely on external cues to tell them to stop eating and the less they rely on whether they felt full”

External cues such as the amount of food left on the plate or when the show is over, you get it.

Ok, don’t blame your parents. Just learn, hopefully.

Be rational, as much as possible.

Should we vote based on our opinion even if it is selfish?

An example:

Enbloc selling of your condominium

You just moved in, bought the place at a high price, don’t want to sell

Yet you understand why other people want to sell

They would profit, move to a better place perhaps.

Okay, so you know it is better for the majority of the residence if the Enbloc goes through, but to you, individually, it is detrimental.

Should you vote, based on your own opinion or “more ethically” based on the benefit of the majority, the greater good? Your vote makes the difference.

It does seem more ethical to not be “selfish”, but the system doesn’t work this way. The democratic system aims to take into account every of our true individual opinions, to judge a situation. So if 20%++ of people truly would not agree to the sales, for example, the Enbloc will not proceed.

For a true, outcome, all votes must reflect the selfish opinion of the individual.

Politically, it might be a little different, you might be conservative but you go by the “live and let live” principle. Hence, you vote for liberty, because with liberty, you can be conservative all you want and those people who are not can exercise their rights too.

In my quest to understand people, I have stumbled upon a question. What exactly makes an individual? What is the difference between one person from another?

There are very obvious ones like, physical appearance and circumstances such as wealth and health. There are also not so obvious ones like, personality and values. All of these are interconnected, one can affect the other. For example, your values and personality can affect your wealth.

According to research, genes affect your personality. Your personality links to your political orientation, whether you are liberal or conservative. People with high openness score are almost twice as likely to be liberal.

Here are the “Big five” personality traits:

Openness - appreciation for art, emotion, adventure, unusual ideas, imagination, curiosity, and variety of experience.

Conscientiousness - a tendency to show self-discipline, act dutifully, and aim for achievement; planned rather than spontaneous behaviour.

Extraversion - energy, positive emotions, surgency, and the tendency to seek stimulation and the company of others.

Agreeableness - a tendency to be compassionate and cooperative rather than suspicious and antagonistic towards others.

Neuroticism - a tendency to experience unpleasant emotions easily, such as anger, anxiety, depression, or vulnerability; sometimes called emotional instability.

You should read more about them on wikipedia.
These questions that I have leads to another: Why people act the way they do?

We had discussions about people recently..

From what I have learned, there are four needs that everyone has: Uncertainty, certainty, significance and love/connection. These rank differently in importance based on the individual. Everything we do are meant to fulfill these needs.

According to Mister Wong, when a robber commits robbery, he satisfies at least three of these needs. Certainty of being in control, uncertainty of how the victim will act, of how much “richer” he will be, and significance of being significant. Maybe even love/connection if he wants to use to money to help his family or save someone.

And things that satisfy at least 3 needs can become addictive. Now, satisfying these needs need not be a bad thing such as robbery, you can satisfy these needs in a good way like helping others or making money.

Significance can be fulfilled by some by something like piercings and tattoos. Something that makes him/her who he is, something that makes him/her someone in this world, in a social circle, etc. An example, in an conversation, would be someone who would go against everything you say, by that act, he/she is significant in that conversation(unless he/she is totally ignored). Note, significant is not a there or not variable, there are levels of significance too. From that example, one can get more significance just by being more aggressive in his/her stance against what you say. Of course if it goes overboard, then the significance could be lost too.

Have you ever faced a situation where you would be better off changing and yet “can’t” change because by changing you are no longer yourself? Yes, that is significance.

Then there is this thing about goals. People living purely on reactionary basis and people who are moving towards their goals. If you are purely reactionary, you have no actual goals, you do things just to fulfill needs as they appear. Needs such as money, when your parents stop providing you when you reach a certain age. On reaction, you would go out and find a job and try to make money. On reaction to your friends saying something, you agree with them. On reaction to someone bumping into you, you punch them in the face. Without goals, everything you do is caused by an external event. With goals such as I want to make $1000 per month on another hand, you wouldn’t be so reactionary. For example, when an event that distracts you from your goals occur, you can ignore it and move towards your goal. With goals such as wanting to be a more graceful person, when someone bumps into you, you restrain the urge to punch them in the face and say “Are you ok?”.

We further analysed individuals to study why they act the way they do, for privacy/security reasons, I cannot reveal the details here.

For everything we do, for every choice we make, our values and personalities play a part. I am not perfect, no one is, but we can always change for the better. Set goals.

Dear fellow Earthlings and all other intelligent lifeforms where ever you may be,

Do we live with double standards? Would you fight for or defend your friends and family even if they are in the wrong? Are you bias? What is right? Do you cheat and lie?

Shit happens all the time. I am faced with situations where no matter what I do, there has to be some “wrongness” in it. I can do what is “right”, but it sacrifices people on my side, they get left out of the fun and things like that. All because I wanted to be fair to everyone, for the greater good, utilitarianism. On the other hand, I thought - these people are my friends, shouldn’t their good be worth more than the good of others? What is ethical in this case?

On further thought, biasness, like this, perhaps could be the cause of racism.

I base my decisions on reason, and when reason fails me, I don’t make decisions(or at least I try not to). Perhaps, I leave the decision to others, so I don’t do wrong (anything wrong is not my fault, or at least not mine alone - democracy), perhaps I avoid the whole situation altogether by not even getting involved in the first place. Sometimes I have to be involved and make the decisions, because ultimately, I am the only one that can do it.

Sometimes it is easier to just follow a code of conduct set for you. Like during a war, if you are a soldier, you just shoot your enemy, even if you are on the wrong side of the war, the invader. I wonder if patriotism is ethical at all. - William Blum has said this in other words: “If love is blind, patriotism has lost all five sense” Likewise George Orwell, though not a pacifist himself, has stated that “The nationalist not only does not disapprove of atrocities committed by his own side, but he has a remarkable capacity for not even hearing about them.” (From wikipedia)

How should I rank whose benefit is more important? Mine > Friends > Others or Mine > Others or Equality? (I am not a vegan, so animals are not on the scale)

Should I value the benefit of those who would benefit me more higher? (Try social psychology, evolutionary psychology, ethical egoism on wikipedia)

I will not degrade myself to a racist and xenophobic low life. The enemy of reason is my enemy.

I need a more perfect, more reasonable set of principles to follow, and I shall find it soon.

Yours faithfully
Someone from Earth
P.S. I know these thoughts are quite jumbled, and I am not writing properly.
